Cheeseburger
June 2016 –

Check out “Cheeseburger” on this pdf -what a beast! This buck was caught during the 2015 Alberta deer season on my brother, Mike’s, trail camera. Mike has outfitted hunts in Alberta since 1996 (see:
www.legendoutfitting.com). Cheeseburger is one of the biggest-bodied whitetails I have ever seen—most likely in the 400 lb. range! Mike’s hunters did not take this over-grown buck and he was spotted fat and happy after the end of the deer season. Mike has a couple of prime November 2016 rut dates available. Somebody has to go to Alberta and hunt for Cheeseburger or another giant like him!

South Texas is a long way from northern Alberta, but it’s also home to big trophy whitetails. Each season, Keith Burns and his family allow me to bring a few friends to hunt their superb Texas ranch. Their property has been intensely managed for a dozen years or more and is home to an amazing population of awesome native Texas bucks. The wildlife, accommodations, food, and, especially, the Burns family, make these deer hunts a fantastic experience. Here is a Burns ranch story written by my friend and outdoor writer, Gayne Young. The article appeared in a recent issue of the Texas Sporting Journal. It covers a quail and deer hunt with friends from California and New Jersey.

The hunts at both Mike’s and the Burns’ Ranch catered to two hunters per hunt: private and personalized. There are a few rut dates available. Give me a call for further info such as costs, dates…etc.

It’s raining a bunch in Texas and the Alberta deer lived through another mild winter. Conditions look really good for next season. Great opportunities to hunt monster bucks in the far northern prairies or the southern brush country.

Best Regards,
Gordie

Gordie’s Book

“There are some things I knew about Gordie White before I read his book…and one important thing I did not know. I knew that he was not only an experienced hunter, but a passionate, with a genuine love for wild places and wild creatures. I knew that he’d been brought up as a hunter, and that this is, essentially, his life as well as his hobby, both his avocation and vocation. It’s my chronological misfortune to consider him young, but he’s filled his years with a tremendous amount of experience, from Canada to Africa and back again, with multiple stops in between. I knew these things because we’ve shared African campfires together…and I knew one thing more: Gordie White is one of the good guys, honest, self-deprecating, not given to the shameless self-promotion that, in this era of mass communication without accountability, turns inexperienced ‘wanna-be’s’ into self-proclaimed gurus. But there was one important thing that I did not know about Gordie White: The man can write! Although I’m sure there are more, there are two things that make a book like this worthy of reading. First, the writer must have a genuine story to tell. Second, he must be able to tell it. Gordie White passes both tests, and has given us a great story, worth telling and worth reading.”
