Friends,
In late February, friends and I traveled to Spain to hunt ibex and to enjoy that historic and beautiful country. We landed into Madrid just after sunrise and spent the remainder of the day and night touring the exquisite city, and eating its superb food. After breakfast the next day, we traveled to the hunting areas.
We hunted Gredos and Beceite ibex. Both species live in raw wild mountain country with spectacular scenery. Our guides and gamekeepers were great hunters and true professionals. Great numbers of ibex were found high on rocky slopes and bedded in the sun’s rays in low valleys. I saw a good number of roe deer and a few herds red deer. I was continually awed by the abandoned settlements, centuries’ old ruins, and terraced hillsides found throughout the Beceite ibex country. I can report a fantastic hunt and experience!
I want to see more of Spain. The next trip might be to hunt chamois in the Pyrenees Mountains or, to the south of Spain, for the Rhonda and Southeastern ibex, or maybe to join one of our groups on a driven red-legged partridge shoot.
For more Spain hunting information, call or email me.
Good Hunting,
Gordie
